Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post secondary education in public administration, business, health, or administration. A combination of education, training and related experience may be considered
- Knowledge of the Manitoba Physicians Manual and Regulations under The Health Services Insurance Act
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and effectively manage conflicting deadlines
- Strong written communication skills with experience proofreading, editing and formatting a variety of documents
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Experience managing staff, including managing assignments and workflow and performance management
- Strong problem solving skills with the abbility to deal with contentious and complex issues
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Desired:
- Knowledge of the medical claims processing system, medical terminology, fee tariffs, and ICD coding
- Proficiency with SAP
Duties:
The manager is responsible for directing, guiding, and explaining legislation, insured benefits, claims payment policies, and assessments to staff, external stakeholders, practitioners and the public.
The Manager investigates and answers complex and sensitive inquiries from health care providers (such as physicians, chiropractors, optometrists, dentists) and the public concerning the submission and payment of claims.
The Manger is responsible for the operational aspects of the Claims Unit and Business Relations Unit, including financial oversight, budgetary reviews, operational management, planning, organizing, recruitment, liaising with Human Resources, attendance management, educating andtraining staff, monitoring daily operations, and evaluating and implementing complex ongoing process and system improvements in a team based environment.
