About the role


Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Regular Full-Time Analyst, Network Services to join our dynamic
IT Infrastructure Operations and Delivery team.

The work of an Analyst, Network Services is integral to Canadian Blood Services' role as Canada's Lifeline.


In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery and support of Canadian Blood Services core network services used by internal and external CBS stakeholders to meet CBS' business goals.

The key responsibilities include the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and support of the core network services and enterprise networking infrastructure including cabling, switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, WAN, VoIP, and network monitoring.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Monitor existing systems and provide day to day support regarding performance issues or network connectivity issues, troubleshoot incident tickets and manage service requests raised by internal customers pertaining to Canadian Blood Services network and voice services, ensure timely restoration of services to end users, escalating support to more senior technicians as required.
  • Provide intermediate level support of installations, upgrades of LAN/WAN equipment, and other network infrastructure changes in all locations and data centres, including implementing security procedures and providing documentation (i.e. network diagrams, support documentation, instructional materials) to maintain reliability, stability and security of core network infrastructure to support the essential business processes of Canadian Blood Services.
  • Work with Canadian Blood Services project teams requiring network and voice service deliverables to identify requirements, coordinate deployment activities required to meet project requirements, open necessary change ticket records in Canadian Blood Services ITSM system and ensure tasks are delivered on schedule.
  • Manage engagement and escalations with third party service providers with regards to network and voice systems products and services to ensure correct urgency level is assigned to tickets requiring third party support to ensure timely restoration of services to end users.

Education, Training and Experience:


  • Postsecondary level education in a relevant discipline from recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of networking essentials and experience in a Cisco environment including cabling, TCP/IP, L2/L3 switching, wireless, routing, firewalls, monitoring, and protocol analysers.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with any of the following:
  • Network troubleshooting in a complex LAN/MAN/WAN environment
  • Knowledge of Telephony, VoIP, Cellular, and Call Centre infrastructure
  • SIEM technologies
  • SDN technologies
  • Knowledge of Cloud environments such as Azure or AWS
  • IT security architecture or service development
  • IT Network or Security Vendor Certifications

Demonstrated Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience deploying and supporting network infrastructure platforms and technology covering some or all the following:
  • Cisco access, distribution, core Catalyst and Nexus switches
  • Cisco ASR, ISR, Catalyst routers
  • WAN MPLS (Layer3, BGP, OSPF, failover routing) in an enterprise environment (over 50 sites)
  • Cisco wireless controllers and lightweight access points, Cisco Meraki
  • Cisco firewalls and

VPN:
Cisco Firepower 4100, 1010, (FTD and ASA ISO), Cisco AnyConnect VPN, site to site VPN, DMZ

  • Cisco ISE, Cisco ACI, Cisco DNAC, F5 Load Balancers, PRTG
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including establishing collaborative work relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Ability to convey technical information to nontechnical audiences
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Team player and able to provide 7x24 oncall support on a rotating basis
  • Organized and detail oriented, able to work remotely or in an office environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise network implementation and administration working in platforms such as Cisco
