    Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team We currently have an opportunity for an Enterprise Data Architect in our Enterprise Data Office (EDO) to support our Enterprise Data Enablement team. This position will be based out of Calgary, Mississauga, Toronto, Montreal, Dartmouth, or Stellarton, depending on the successful candidate's location.

    The Enterprise Data Architect has direct responsibility for designing the data architecture for our organization. You will collaborate with and mentor cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of our data assets. Your expertise in data modeling, database design, and data integration will play a vital role in driving data-driven decision-making by ensuring that our data is ready to support next generation Analytics, Operations, and business strategy execution.

    Here's where you'll be focusing:


    What you'll get to do in this fast-paced role:

    • Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide data architecture/data modeling strategy for our Enterprise Data Lake and a business consumption layer that aligns with the organization's business goals and objectives. Define and implement data standards, principles, and guidelines for data modeling, database design, and data integration.
    • Partner with Domain Data Architects to design and create logical and physical data models that meet the requirements of various business functions. Oversee the defining of data entities, relationships, attributes, and hierarchies to ensure data integrity and consistency across different systems and applications.
    • Partner with Domain Engineering teams to standardize data integration patterns that will facilitate seamless near real time data flow between different systems and platforms. Define common strategies for data extraction, transformation, and loading, ensuring high data quality and reliability.
    • Design and maintain Enterprise Level Domain Ownership Model and standard Data Catalogue framework.
    • Define and establish standards on data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers, and other team members. Share your expertise and knowledge to foster their professional growth and enhance their understanding of database design, SQL, query evaluation and performance tuning.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable data architecture solutions. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data architecture and management. Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance data processing, analytics, and visualization capabilities.
    • Champion data best practices among business and technical teams.
    • Champion the EDO goals and guiding principles.
    • Build trust in data and how we use it.
    • Establish and embed collaborative ways of working to accelerate our data transformation.
    • Champion the safe and scalable use of data across the organization.

    What you have to offer:


    What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:

    • 5+ years of Data Engineering/Data Solution delivery experience.
    • 3+ years of Data Architect preferably in the CPG industry.
    • Strong experience in data architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Proficiency in data modeling techniques (Data Vault 2.0 is a plus point)
    • Experience in Cloud-based data management platforms and ETL solutions such as Azure ADLS, Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica or similar.
    • Understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data security practices.
    • Ability to collaborate with business teams to understand data impacts and define data standards.
    • Experience in Data Product Management methodologies is an asset.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
