REPORTING:
This position is responsible to and reports directly to the Operations Supervisor.


FUNCTION:
The cleaner is responsible for the cleaning duties and minor maintenance in order to
ensure the building and its perimeters are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary
manner.

A. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All Restrooms
  • Cleans and disinfects sinks, countertops, toilet, mirrors, shower stalls, etc. Replenish bathroom supplies
  • Floors
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums all floors and carpets except kitchen
  • Trash
  • Empty all wastebaskets and recyclables
  • Take all Laundry from dorms and operate the washing machine / dryer
  • Window washing
  • Garbage pick-up outside the building
  • Perform Minor Maintenance duties as delegated by Operations Supervisor
  • Report any major maintenance requests to the Operations Supervisor
  • High dusting (cleaning lights, on top of shelves, etc.)
  • Wall washing (1 section per week)
  • Assist with inventory control as delegated by the Operations Supervisor
  • High speeding, stripping and waxing as required
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, volunteers, & clients
  • Attend all training provided and ensure annual training requirements are up to date
B. HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report all health and safety concerns to an Operations Supervisor or a representative of the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
  • Take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Work in a healthy and safe manner and wear all personal protective wear that is required
C. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good communication skills specifically in conflict resolution and nonviolent crisis intervention
  • Previous experience cleaning, and light maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement, perform job duties with mínimal supervision and problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, staff, community agencies and the public.
