About the Opportunity

The company is looking for a Nutrition and Food Services, Utility Worker to join the team. This role involves working in both patient and retail food service settings under the guidance of the Manager/Food Service Supervisor. The main responsibilities include preparing and serving meals to patients, residents, Veteran's, staff, families, and customers. Additionally, the Utility Worker is in charge of cleaning and sanitizing patient trays, equipment, and workstations. Ensuring food safety practices are followed and delivering excellent service are key aspects of this role. The Utility Worker will be involved in various important tasks on-site.

Key Work Activities:

Assembling, portioning, and serving meals
Preparing nourishments, special feedings, beverages, and menu items
Salad and sandwich preparation

Delivery and Collection

Delivering selective menus and patient meals
Distribution of nourishments and supplies
Collection of soiled patient trays

Food Handling

Participating in receiving and storing supplies using FIFO
Interpreting patient diet/meal orders
Managing inventory

Food Safety and Sanitation

Cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, equipment, and work area
Maintaining work area safety and sanitation
Following safe food handling practices and hygiene standards
Practicing proper hand hygiene and food storage procedures

About You

We are interested in hearing from candidates who meet the following requirements:

Grade 12/GED or equivalent
Restaurant experience
Customer service skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team
Efficiently performing duties within set timeframes
Effective communication skills
Knowledge of languages other than English, preferably French
Ability to handle physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting, and bending

Employees working in the Pot Room require special footwear and may need to lift heavy objects, perform physically demanding tasks, and work independently.
