Logistics Supervisor in Waterloo
Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Logistics Supervisor will provide leadership and oversight to the shipping and receiving group and will act as an interface between the various internal customers while setting goals and measuring performance to ensure customers needs are being met effectively. The supervisor will seek out opportunities of continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision and management of staff.
  • Ensure that OHSA is followed and that employees are trained based on both the Act and DALSA H&S policies to ensure due diligence is met.
  • Responding and addressing health and safety concerns of employees and finding ways to resolve those concerns. Completing physical inspection of the department being supervised in order to identify and resolve any workplace hazards.
  • Ensure that schedules are met.
  • Identification, planning and provision of comprehensive training for the associates to ensure an effective level of crosstraining, and hence providing a flexible workforce.
  • Provide monthly reports of metrics that indicate the performance levels of the group.
  • Ensure daily action plans are met; ensure problems are escalated that are not within direct control
  • Provide support for all employees in the group.
  • Ability to motivate others to complete expected workload with high level of quality.
  • Consistent policy clarification and enforcement.
  • Ability to recognize performance issues or accomplishments and provide timely feedback.
  • Establish trust and credibility with the team.
  • Participate in performance management/monitoring. This includes but is not limited to GOP preparation and mid and final year reviews.
  • Recruit new associates as required ensuring that adequate training occurs to allow them to deliver quality products and fit into assigned teams.
  • Develop 2 way communication skills between yourself and individual team members.
  • Define, manage and monitor processes and procedures in keeping with the requirements of internal customers and management.
  • Participates in budget setting and manages against approved budgets, if required.

Qualifications:


  • Business degree or Diploma with 5 years of logistics experience.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the HTS, Canadian and U.S. import and export regulations and NAFTA rules of origin
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with the ERP system SAP is an asset.
