Team Lead, IT & TeleCom Services

Reporting to the Corporate Manager Network/Telecom Services, the Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of operational network support for specific IT service offerings throughout the designated delivery areas of the BCCSS.

The incumbent provides leadership and direction to staff across multiple sites and coordinates team members and other staff as needed to meet the defined objectives of the services they are assigned.

In addition to developing specialized solutions to meet the organization's network infrastructure and communication requirements, the Team Lead is responsible for the coordination, control, testing, maintenance and support of infrastructure systems to achieve the highest level of system availability throughout the BCCSS.

The incumbent directly supervises team members and provides guidance and direction. The incumbent is also responsible for the delivery of service level reporting for designated services.


What you'll do

  • Lead assigned staff during the delivery of specific IT services and functions within BCCSS ensuring that all system documentation and reporting of key performance indicators for services is maintained. Coordinate the activities of staff and resources to ensure they are effectively utilized and assist in the establishment of project management and support structures that will be used by the organization to direct future development and change.
  • Coordinate system upgrades and tuning to ensure maximum performance, security and stability of network systems, including capacity planning (memory, bandwidth, port density etc.) for current and anticipated loads in response to policy, client requirements or technology related to server systems. Ensure that all network infrastructure systems are maintained to the highest levels of service availability and performance.
  • Develop technical support procedures, for such areas as hardware/software installation and testing, and ensure system documentation is developed and maintained, including backup schedules and disaster recovery planning. Develop and communicate plans for planned downtime. Ensure problem resolution and customer satisfaction through ongoing communication with all levels of staff within the organization and develop and maintain productive working relationships with project sponsors and key system users.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and supervision of staff using effective leadership techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, performance management). Provide staff training and orientation, and develop supporting documentation and instructional material.
  • Maintain an awareness of current information system trends and issues through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations and attendance at seminars and workshops.
  • Plan and execute complex projects with stringent timelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

Qualifications:


  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field, plus five (5) years recent related experience in an information systems technical environment. Proven handson specialized experience with Cisco, LAN/WAN, VOIP and wireless infrastructure tools and technologies. Minimum two (2) years recent experience in a technical leadership role.
Skills & Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of core systems technologies and strategies, including technology design, implementation equipment and support functions related to Ethernet, switching, routing, security and transport protocols.
  • Strong enterpriselevel experience with network administration and implementation in a largescale environment, including analysis and design methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminology.
  • Ability to understand and clearly relate technical information and principals of operation to other members of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions, demonstrating time management skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects with stringent budgets and timelines. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP and CCDP, or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
