Acciona Infrastructure Maintenance (AIM) is a newly Canadian established subsidiary division of Global Acciona Road Maintenance group.

With the main focus on road seasonal maintenance and road, bridge infrastructure, the position will work under the direct reporting to AIM's Project Director and Contract Manager.

The Health & Safety (HS) Supervisor position is a multifunctional position.

The HS Supervisor will play an integral part of the Acciona Infrastructure Maintenance (AIM) Quality, Health, Safety & Environment team with a main focus on Occupational Health & Safety.

In addition to having health and safety qualifications the holder of this position must exhibit comprehension of general quality assurance and environmental responsibilities.


Under the direct reporting to the AIM's Project Director & Contract Manager; functional reporting to the Corporate Director of Health & Safety & Environmental; and coordination of work along with the Contract Manager, the HS Supervisor will be responsible for providing support to the management team, supervisors, foremen and workers.

This position will provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day quality, health and safety and environmental requirements of the assigned area.

Moreover, the HS Supervisor will have to provide and submit monthly H&S data on Corporate Management tools as required.

(H&S management tool) and participate on H&S meetings with Acciona North America (AINA) Corporate QHSE Department and QHSE Headquarters (Madrid) when needed.


This role covers the Okanagan territory with13 distinct yards and could be worked out of either the
Armstrong, or
Summerland Office.


Responsibilities

  • Provide support to assigned service areas by maintaining a visible presence in the field.
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the QHSE programs in the field, focused on Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
  • Implement and monitor the Occupational Safety Management System (SMS) as required to ensure a safe work environment for all company employees, contractors, visitors, and community.
  • Implement and maintain the contract/projectspecific health and safety policy, plans, systems, and procedures, all aligned with the corporate SMS.
  • Regularly audit the SMS for compliance and update it to ensure the alignment with service area scope and conditions.
  • Organize and Maintain SMS and H&S records in the Shared Drive and make it available for the Board (AIM Project Director) and all team members that require access to the SMS, safeguarding information that requires access limits as per the OHS regulations.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and support on Prime Contractor responsibilities to the project management team.
  • Act as the safety resource to all site managers, supervisors, foremen and safety advisors relating to SMS and Regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate, coach, and engage with field staff to ensure that all safety expectations are are understood and met.
  • Organize and schedule required safety staff and first aid coverage.
  • Participate in and assist supervisors and foreman in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure that all incidents investigation reports are complete and reviewed immediately with the Board (AIM Project Director) and all required parties.
  • Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
  • Ensure injured workers are offered modified duties and documentation has been completed. Monitor and follow up on modified workers in the field. Coordinate with the thirdparty group for injury management claimsDevelop and implement safety training and education initiatives for the project, including site induction/orientation programs, new/young worker orientations, winter awareness programs, etc.
  • Ensure Supervisors are verifying field staff training and competencies; consult the contract management team and Corporate Director of Health & Safety & Environmental, or delegate, for requirements, compliance, and action plan.
  • Conduct Regular Inspections (at least two per week), one in each Service Area. Use the H&S remote app to conduct remote inspections.
  • Prepare for, and participate in audits including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, COR and/or Owner audits.
  • Participate in leading the British Columbia Construction Safety Association (BCCSA) internal COR audit.
  • Regularly audit the work sites and implement safety improvements.
  • Prepare, distribute, and ensure the review of toolboxes, at least on a weekly basis
  • Update safety Information Board in all service areas yards.
  • Review subcontractors and supplier's sitespecific health and safety management system and training meet the local regulatory requirements.
