The Indigenous consultation assistant is responsible for supporting, coordinating and participating in the implementation of the Infrastructure Sustainability department's Indigenous engagement and consultation activities for the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (port authority).

This includes providing administrative and coordination support for outreach, engagement, and consultation activities, and assisting with other related activities as required.


Must be a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, diplomacy and the ability to liaise effectively and positively with both staff and outside contacts.

Good understanding of Indigenous culture and protocol. This person will have an excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be a team player with a "customer service" focus. Good organizational skills and flexibility to perform multiple tasks as required.

Normal office conditions with the requirement to work evenings occasionally to attend community events/meetings.

Occasional weekend work and travel to external meetings around the Lower Mainland, and as far away as Agassiz and Vancouver Island is also required.
