Position Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Support Vantage and be a strategic partner by providing practical, businessfocused and sound legal advice to the Canadian Design, Engineering & Construction, Finance, Human resources, Sales and Operations teams.
  • Provide proactive and strategic legal advice that enables Vantage to achieve its business and strategic objectives while fully and appropriately managing legal risk.
  • Manage the legal work for the Canadian team, including complex business transactions and agreements with consultants, contractors, and customers and oversight of outside counsel.
  • Responsible for supporting legal matters involving the Canadian Design, Engineering & Construction, Finance, Sales and Operations teams, including negotiating agreements, dispute resolution, governance and contract management, and assisting with the management of outside counsel.
Duties

  • Structure, review, draft and negotiate various vendor contracts, including construction agreements, call for tenders, supply contracts and other vendor agreements.
  • Negotiate complex commercial contracts, including but not limited to commercial lease agreements, colocation agreements, repeatable lease templates.
  • Support global legal strategy for commercial contracts with contractors and customers; including contract management and governance.
  • Responsible for legal work and supervision of outside counsel associated with development, engineering, and construction projects, including professional services agreements, supplier contracts, master agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Support the legal department in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of working practices across the region.
Job Requirements

  • Member of Barreau du Quebec.
  • 25 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience with commercial contracts, including construction agreements, supply contracts and other vendor agreements.
  • Working knowledge of real estate law.
  • Experience in supporting group compliance activities, including developing policies, providing training and monitoring.
  • Experience within the data center or telecommunications industry preferred, but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Wellrounded corporate and commercial lawyer who is also a practical and businessminded executive.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and legal writing skills. Good interpersonal and management skills.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to operate independently.
  • Ability to navigate seamlessly between being highly strategic and handson approach.
  • Proactive and solution oriented with the ability to identify opportunities for improvements within legal practices.
  • Impeccable integrity, credibility, character and ethics.
  • Bilingual ( French and English )
