Valard Construction is Canada's premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America.

Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.

We are currently looking for Experienced Tower Assembers for a project in Northern Ontario.

This position is a 20-8 shift in Northern Ontario, camp accommodations and travel are provided.

Requirements:

SAFETY:

Perform work in accordance with all organizational requirements, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring highest standard of safety is upheld.
Work at ground level, in open excavations, or at heights, around heavy operating equipment and machinery with the highest detail to safety
Participate in tailboard meetings, including identification of potential work site hazards

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
Assist in the layout, assemble and fastening of components of steel lattice transmission power line structures
Operate all required hand tools required to assemble towers which includes, torque wrenches and saws
Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand tools
Knowledge and use of Air Actuated tools including torque wrenches
Experienced with the use of electric power tools
Understand rigging signals for zoombooms moving assembly steel
Trained in the safe operation of gas powered equipment
Ability to work in inclement weather
Report potential hazards to Foremen or Journeymen
Adhere to all company specific and industry specific safety regulations
Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake, shovel, tampers, packers and other gas power equipment
Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
Remove dunnage, garbage and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other lifting equipment
Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, packers, drills and cutters as directed
Tend to machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumps

KSA'S (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES, and PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES):

Communication abilities with an emphasis on the ability to take direction
Ability to read blueprints for tower assembly
Ability to work in a team
Physically fit with the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Knowledge of trade safely practices, procedures and the safety requirements outlined in Company's Health and Safety policies and those outlined by our clients on specific projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1+ years' experienceexperience assembling steel lattice towers
Basic understanding of Transmission line work and expectation on large scale projects
Rigging and slinging experience
Experience working around Loaders, Zoom Booms and lifting equipment
Valid driver's license and comfortable driving long distances on highway and offroad conditions
Requires physical endurance
Must be competent and willing to learn
Requires working long hours, in remote locations, and in adverse weather conditions
