_HELLO Canada _, the country's number-one selling magazine on newsstands and leading entertainment brand online, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Deputy Editor.


_About the role _

  • Editorial Leadership: Collaborate with the EditorinChief to develop and execute the editorial vision for HELLO Canada. Provide leadership and guidance to the editorial team to ensure the delivery of highquality and engaging content.

Content Planning:
Help plan and oversee execution of editorial content, including feature stories, interviews and photoshoots

Pitching, writing and Interviewing:

You will be required to pitch (and field pitches from) publicists, interview celebrities and experts as required and write feature articles and Q&As with rapid turnarou Editing and Proofreading: Edit and proofread articles, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to HELLO Canada editorial standards.

Provide constructive feedback to writers and contribute to the overall improvement of content quality.


Collaboration:
Work closely with the art and design teams to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing presentation of content. Collaborate with the digital team for online content and social media strategy.


Management:
You will be responsible for managing HELLO Canada's roster of freelance writers and editors.
Budget


Management:
Managing the editorial portion of the budget and providing monthly updates to the EIC


_And a bit about yourself:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in editorial roles, with a strong background in celebrity and lifestyle content. Previous experience in a leadership or deputy editor role is highly desirable.
  • Writing and

Editing Skills:
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail. Proven ability to craft engaging and well-researched content.

  • Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of celebrity culture, lifestyle trends, and entertainment news. Familiarity with the Hello Canada brand and its editorial style is an asset.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving editorial goals.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.

Adaptability:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Deadline-driven with a commitment to maintaining editorial standards.
