Team Lead Youth Employment Programs (FT permanent). Any Kitchen experience is required in this role


We are looking for a Team Lead to lead, execute and oversee the day to day operations of our Every Bite Matters (EBM) employment program(s) as well as our Newmarket Youth HUB location which includes our dedicated commercial training kitchen.

Every Bite Matters is a fourteen-week youth culinary focused training and social inclusion employment program that addresses the many needs within the community; it is a food industry job training program, providing unemployed and out of school youth with multiple barriers to employment the skills and opportunities to successfully enter this sector of the working world.

Further, Every Bite Matters addresses social isolation many in the elderly population are facing, providing opportunities for youth and seniors to connect over a nutritious meal.

Every Bite Matters will educate both populations on healthy eating, nutrition and Canada's Food Guide.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Leadership and direction of a diverse staff team of Employment Counsellors and Social Innovation Counsellors.
  • Develop programming/services in accordance with 360°kids' Strategic Plan and funding expectations.
  • Accountable for sound financial management and controls of the operational budget.
  • Development of service program plans and quality assurance evaluative measures.
  • Analyze program evaluation results, ensure funder outcomes are met/exceeded, ensure program integrity while preparing reporting for management, executive, board and funders
  • Ensures key relationships with community partners and others having impact on the program.
  • Develop and facilitate/encourage an organizational culture conducive to the achievement of 360°kids' goals and objectives.
  • Works with 360 ̊staff to ensure program(s) success while positively contributing to organizational needs.
  • Oversee daily operations of a commercial training kitchen.
  • Develop and facilitate training program teaching Food Services departmental standards and implement quality standards in cooking methods, presentation techniques, portion control and retention of nutrients.
  • Oversee the overall operations of the culinary portion of the program; minimize waste and maintain control over procurement of menus, budgeting and cost control of food, preparation and supervision of the preparation and cooking of all food items, ensure menu meets needs of the elderly with nutritious, safe, appealing, and properly flavoured food.
  • Develop nutritious, safe and appealing menus for participants to prepare and serve to community elderly population.
  • Plan and execute seniors' lunch program at both the community and participant levels.
  • Assist in the development and cofacilitation of appropriate program materials for vulnerable youth.
  • Conduct program intakes, determine eligibility and makes recommendations based on youth needs.
  • Act as a positive role model, mentor, and support for youth as they learn new skills.
  • Coordinate youth action plan activities, monitor progress, and keep client case notes.
  • Build a positive referral base with community partners, including marketing and outreach to employers and partners.
  • Assist youth in accessing various community programs as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring job placements; liaise with employers, youth, and other team members regarding progress.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with partnering seniors' organizations (i.e. HYI, CHATS).
  • Ensure program evaluation is monitored and executed as detailed in funder and program guidelines.
  • Assist youth to access community programs and provide resources, informal counseling, referrals and advocacy services within their community.
  • Report on a regular basis to Manager of Employment Programs regarding issues of need and/or concern. In the event of a crisis or critical incident, immediately report to the appropriate level.
  • Follow appropriate policies and procedures of 360°kids. Ensure that the program operates in line with 360°kids' mission, vision and values and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
  • Complete all mandatory recording and reporting including daily documentation and statistical data collection. Provides reports and related information to the Manager of Employment Programs as required and in a timely manner.
  • Participates in regular supervision meetings and performance appraisal meetings on a semiannual basis. Attends training workshops and relevant conferences that pertain to the role.
  • Includes across agency 24 hour "On Call" Team Lead duties

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Postsecondary education in Social Services and/or Food Services Coordination, Nutrition, Health Sciences or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years direct program delivery experience to vulnerable youth and/or two (2) years experience in a commercial kitchen environment,
