Work Schedule:
We are hiring staff to work the following schedules:
Split Shift - 7 hours - 6:45 am - 10:15 am; 2:45 pm - 6 : 15 pm

Mornings - 3 hours - 6:45 am - 9:45 am

Afternoons - 3 hours - 3:15 pm to 6:15 pm

Position Summary:


The Halton District School Board (HDSB) will offer a Before and After School Program at selected sites during the school year.


The HDSB is seeking Registered Early Childhood Educators to provide quality play-based before and after school programs to meet the developmental needs of children aged 3.8 to 12 years of age.


Registered Early Childhood Educators are responsible for developing and implementing a program based on the Ministry of Education document How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years, the regulations of the Child Care and Early Years Act and established HDSB policies, procedures and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Early Years and Child Care Programs, key responsibilities include:
Providing support in an FDK program at the beginning of the school day (after the before school program has concluded) for a total of 3 hours;
Planning, organizing and leading activities for children 3.8 years to 12 years of age to meet their developmental needs;
Moving/setting up equipment on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as the program will be run within HDSB shared spaces;
Maintaining safety standards within the classroom;
Communicating with parents and community contacts.

Assisting children during meals and snack time, as well as setting up and cleaning afterwards.


Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education

Member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators

18 years of age or older

Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR-C & AED certification (Level C)

Acceptable Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Sector Check dated within 6 months of appointment date

Strong interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport with children, families, staff/volunteers, and community partners

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Working computer knowledge
