    At SMS Equipment, our Marketing Business Partner is responsible for leading the creation and execution of marketing strategies and plans to drive brand awareness and growth with the different SMS business functions and regions to ensure that marketing is customer centric and being used effectively to drive profitable business growth. The Marketing Business Partner is the primary lead in collaborating, reviewing, providing dealer feedback and integrating relevant Komatsu and other OEM initiatives within the marketing group. This position is in Acheson, AB.

    This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

    The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Primary contact that works with the business to create business enabled marketing plans on an agreed upon cadence that supports profitable business growth.
  • The central point of contact and customer marketing subject matter expert for functional business groups assigned.
  • Develop a systematic, effective, and efficient communication process with all relevant stakeholders, departments and business partners.
  • Work directly with Komatsu and other OEMs to help create, evaluate, prioritize, and integrate relevant digital and non-digital initiatives into both internal marketing group and business enabled marketing plans.
  • Lead the creation and development of business enabled marketing strategies and plans.
  • Lead the development of regional budgets in collaboration with business owners ensuring alignment to marketing business plans.
  • Track and report on spend activity against regional budgets.
  • Delegate and support the corresponding execution of the marketing approaches, tactics, and channels via the marketing specialists.
  • Conduct direct market and business research to find answers about consumer requirements, habits, and trends.
  • Support and delegate appropriately and collaborate with marketing specialists, communication specialists, digital specialists, business SMEs and other professionals to ensure outcomes are met.
  • Use customer insights, campaign data and brand research provided by BI, digital specialists and external vendors, to review and provide forward thinking insight into marketing plan and campaign course correction, growth suggestions and customer marketing strategies.
  • Establish appropriate KPIs to measure relevant business indicators and profitable business growth in collaboration with digital marketing specialists and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure reporting cadence is established and monitored with each of the relevant business functional groups.
  • Responsible for all relevant post-marketing analysis for all major business enabled marketing initiatives.
  • Direct industry product knowledge competence through ongoing training to support business enabled customer marketing plans.
  • Keep abreast of new marketing and communications approaches within the industry and key customer marketing tools and techniques.
  • Attend periodic workshops, seminars, and other related events.
  • Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have a post secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field paired with a minimum of 5 years B2B experience as a Customer Marketing Manager, Business Lead/Specialist or similar role. Additional requirements include:

  • Experience in building business enabled marketing plans.
  • Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of how marketing can support business growth.
  • Professional and advanced business understanding and working knowledge of the heavy equipment industry.
  • Working level product knowledge within Parts & Service.
  • Thorough understanding of traditional and digital marketing elements and market research methods.
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce best practices to drive growth.
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to build trust and rapport to influence, guide and make recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative and big picture thinking with the ability to drill down to a tactical level.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel on occasion.
  • Bilingual in English & French is considered an asset.
