Century Plaza Hotel provides guests with a home away from home ambience in the middle of downtown Vancouver.
We are currently looking for a
Guest Service Manager / Duty Manager to join our team on a full-time basis.
The Guest Service Manager / Duty Manager is responsible for helping to create and maintain a positive work environment, while maximizing hotel revenues and maintaining good working relationships with clients, guests and staff from all departments, as well as to ensure that our safety & security measures are met.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to direct and control the activities of the Front Office, Reservations, Guest Activities, and to ensure policies and procedures are followed;
- Must ensure that all personnel are kept well informed of department objectives and policies;
- The ability to develop relationships with clients, return guests, group contacts etc.;
- The ability to respond properly and take a supervisory role in any hotel emergency or safety situation;
- Manage all administrational duties as specified by the company;
- Knowledge of Opera PMS, OTA extranets as well as basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is strongly preferred;
- Well organized with strong time management skills;
- Other duties may be assigned when required;
- Flexible schedule: Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for checking guests in and out of the Hotel;
- Answer various questions from guests and arranges transportation for guests;
- Generate bills, collect payment and make change for guests;
- Complete welcome calls;
- Maintain a clean and tidy front desk area;
- Refer all inquiries to the appropriate individuals, divisions, or departments across the organization;
- As a frontline worker, present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries, and other interactions;
- Provide information to staff and/or clients about special activities;
- Act as security manager as necessary;
- Check cleanliness of lobby and public areas, lights and as well as ensuring front office staff are following proper and orderly appearance and behavior.
APPLICABLE SKILLS:
- Previous hotel experience, specifically in the Rooms Division Department;
- Demonstration of supervisor skills; good judgment and common sense;
- Superior written and oral communication skills;
- Minimum of two years of experience in similar position;
- Graduate in a bachelor degree and/or diploma in hospitality or other related field is an asset;
- Must be able to fully communicate in English (writing and speaking); other languages are an asset.
