Job Description:


This position requires an "individual contributor" to work in the North American market to support and guide the sales activities of Syntegon Packaging's Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Product Group for both standard and complex automated packaging solutions, primarily to the food market.


It will be the responsibility of the Sales Person to steer the Syntegon solution to that which best fits the customer's technical requirements, budget, project timeline, and most importantly, achieves the best value for the customer relative to our competitors.

The Sales person must also fully understand the client's operations, organization, decision-influencers - and become an expert in the customer's operations.


Because the product portfolio ranges from stand-alone equipment to highly engineered systems, it is critical that the individual in this role be knowledgeable of the available Syntegon technologies which can be applied to a particular customer's need.

Success is defined as profitable sales as well as steadily growing the pipeline for future business growth.

  • Direct sales for Horizontal, Secondary and Vertical Systems via direct interaction with assigned region
  • Have a deep understanding of the assigned accounts: their organization, decision influencers, factories, products and ultimately their current and future needs
  • Know product portfolio well
  • Be a consultant for the customer (systems design, machine recommendations, package formats, etc.
  • Build relationships with key people within Syntegon business units, including Service organization
  • Provide business unit experts and management access to customers for product presentation, closing orders, market feedback, customer feedback, etc
  • Support projects as necessary for successful execution
  • Be an advocate for the customer within Syntegon
  • Travel a minimum of 50% of time per year both domestically and internationally

Qualifications:


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess a BS degree from an accredited university.
  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience with Engineered Equipment
  • Must have at least 2+ years of Sales experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An MS degree or MBA
  • Demonstrated ability to close "big ticket" complex sales or provide success history in previous positions.
  • Expert level ability to communicate a combination of technical details and business issues to the team in respective business units.
  • Ability to present to and interface with VP and above level at our clients'
  • Extremely competitive with the ability to selfmotivate oneself to success.
  • Prior experience in project management
  • Prior experience as an Application Engineer
  • Demonstrated ability to write business and sales plans
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to speak German or Spanish, in addition to English
