With offices in Winnipeg, Geneva, Ottawa, and Toronto, our work affects lives in nearly 100 countries. We are currently looking for a publishing manager to work in our Winnipeg office.


About the Position
We are very excited to be adding a Publishing Officer to our IISD communication team. The position will offer a flexible and challenging work environment with lots of room to grow.

Responsibilities
Publishing process management

  • Work with the Deputy Director, Communications to comanage the full publishing process for IISD outputs, including the coordination of editing, design, translation, and print. These outputs include but are not limited to reports, briefs, business cards, signage, video, posters, and proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders on IISD publishing outputs, ensuring a positive and collaborative process from start to finish.
  • Assign publishing work to internal and external team members to ensure outputs are completed in a timely manner and all IISD publishing process standards are met.
  • Comanage publishing process expectations by providing accurate timeline estimations and creating workback schedules for publishing outputs.
  • Review designed publishing outputs with a keen eye for detail.
  • Design/document cleanup of Microsoft documents when required.
Website posting and monitoring

  • Post and monitor IISD publications on IISD's various websites, in both Drupal and WordPress content management systems.
  • Assist the Deputy Director, Communications in monitoring IISD websites, ensuring that best practices and set guidelines are followed.
Operations

  • Manage and track publishing invoices and credit card charges.
  • Ensure all publishing invoices are approved and paid in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile IISD communication team credit card expenses.
  • Assist the Deputy Director, Communications with overall IISD communication team operations, including but limited to team onboarding, meeting logistics, budget monitoring, and updating team informational and guidance assets.
Merchandise

  • Work with the Deputy Director, Communications on IISD and IISD-ELA merchandise production, planning, and dissemination.
  • Use various online shipping tools (predominantly Canada Post) to ship merchandise orders across the world in a timely manner.
  • Oversee general inventory of all IISD and IISD-ELA merchandise and update accordingly through the IISD-ELA online store and payment software.
Other tasks

  • Fill in for the Deputy Director, Communications when needed.
  • Assist various teams with meeting/event coordination when needed.
  • Assist the Deputy Director, Communications with travel arrangements for the IISD communications team when needed.
  • Participate actively in weekly publishing team meetings and biweekly communication team meetings.
Other duties as needed.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of postsecondary education (college or university). Education related to project management, or library or information science would be considered an asset.
  • 35 years related onthejob experience.
  • Extensive experience working in a Windowsbased environment (Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to keep track of multiple projects at once.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure with short deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask while remaining efficient and organized.
  • Ability to be responsive, accurate, and timely with problem resolution.
  • Must be open to feedback and be able to take direction.
  • Comfortable working with a large team in a remote environment.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Willingness to work overtime or after hours when needed.

Assets

  • Editing experience.
  • Design experience (Word, PPT, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • French and/or Spanish language skills.
  • Experience working in content management systems (Drupal and WordPress).
  • Experience working on an ecommerce website.
  • Openness to learning new skills on the job.
