Safety Advisor to help us with building construction in Southern Saskatchewan.


Job Title:
Safety Advisor


Job Summary:
The Safety Advisor is responsible for overseeing the implementation, monitoring and reporting aspects of the Project's Safety Plan.

In this role, the Safety Advisor will be a resource to provide support, advice and assistance on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) related matters for Management, Supervisors, Foremen and Workers on the project site.

Strong leadership, a mentoring approach, good coordination and communication are expected to successfully address the Safety requirements of the assigned project.

Working in Southern Saskatchewan near Estevan, on 10 days on and 4 day off rotation. Project duration is approximately three (3) months with the possibility of extension. Living out Allowance (LOA) and Travel to be confirmed nearer the start date of late September.

Safety Manager


Overall Accountability:


  • Provide the Project Manager and Site Supervision with the services and technical advice needed for proper administration of the HSE program.
  • Effective implementation of the hazard/risk assessment process to ensure the correct level of control is being applied to the risk factors.
  • Prepare and distribute HSE statistical reports as required.
  • Maintain project incident reporting and data collection system, coordinate investigations and ensure that corrective action(s) are completed expediently.
  • Subcontractor oversight participate in subcontractor kickoff meetings. Include subcontractors in regular HSE inspections/audits and routinely monitor for compliance to the HSE management system.
  • Conduct site tours and inspections to observe conditions and work practices.
  • Responsible for the daytoday administration of the Safety Management System.
  • Assist linemanagement in incident prevention, investigation, analyses, and preparation of reports and summaries.
  • Post and maintain HSE bulletins, posters, rules and regulations.
  • Conduct and maintain HSE files, reports, site inspection.
  • Ensure site/Tron CM orientations and awareness training are conducted for all staff/workers
  • Assist in the development of effective corrective actions, where a deficiency has been identified, either through an incident investigation or site inspection/audit.
  • Assist and advise the site OHS / JHSC Committee in the fulfillment of their duties, roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide recommendations on the type of PPE required on site.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes, and industry trends and practices regarding HSE.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • 35 years of related work experience within the mining and/or commercial/industrial construction industry.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

The following safety certifications are required:

  • Current Construction Safety Officer (CSO), or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required.
  • CSTS or SCOT
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Fall Arrest
  • Certified Canadian Registered Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) would be considered an asset.

Working Environment:


  • This position works in an industrial mine site setting.
