Dispatcher/Scheduler

The schedule for this position is four 10-hour shifts, rotating between day and night shifts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage the daily dispatching of operators to fleet units
Monitor and immediately respond to route, fleet and operator issues making sure service delivery requirements are met; and advising on company safety policies and procedures
Process and transmit information and instruction to coordinate the activities of operators, supervisors, and fleet units using a variety of computeraided communications and dispatching equipment
Monitor phones and assist Ticket Office Staff with providing information to customers/passengers and other Red Arrow Express employees
Work independently to expediently resolve customer/passenger issues
Help charter department fill charters as needed
Any other duties as directed as assigned by the Operations Control Manager, or their designate

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

12 years in logistics and/or transportation dispatch is preferred
12 years' experience in a customer service role is preferred
Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration or related field is preferred
General knowledge of Alberta & BC highway networks is considered an asset
Experience working in a Unionized culturally diverse environment is considered an asset
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Maintain a clear criminal record, a minimum of a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract
Must have ability to problem solve in a hectic work environment and display a high level of decisiveness while displaying significant use of memory
Ability to handle stressful situations in a composed manner
