Marie, the Structural Engineering Intern will report to the Project Manager and will have a wide range of duties.You will be part of a team that offers services to private and government sector clients throughout Ontario and provides engineering solutions for bridges, buildings, and utility scale power generating facilities.
What You'll Do:
The Structural Engineering Intern will be part of the Engineering team
You will:
Perform pre-engineering inspections and surveys
Complete, check, and review technical deliverables including reports, technical notes, drawings, and engineering calculations
Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, supporting documents, reports, and permit applications
Complete preliminary and detailed design and specifications for structural projects (e.g. transportation structures and commercial, residential, and industrial buildings)
Assist with tenders, proposals, and cost estimates
Participate in public and stakeholder consultation
Perform construction inspections
Assist with project management and construction administration

Who You Are:
You are a Civil Engineering Intern
You have 0-3 years of experience in the civil/structural consulting industry
Building Code knowledge and/or a BCIN is considered an asset
You are proficient in AutoCAD
Bridge design experience is an asset
You are willing to travel when necessary
You make decisions and exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
What You Should Bring:
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Additionally, you should have:
High motivation with results-oriented focus
Excellent client liaison and communications skills
Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Valid Class G driver's licence
