Are you an experienced Accounting professional looking for a new challenge? Join us Capital Power Corporation is seeking an exceptional Accounts Payable Manager to join our world-class team in Edmonton.

As the Accounts Payable Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the vendor payment process.

You will be responsible for reviewing and approving payment registers, analyzing and setting up acquisition vendors, and guiding Accounts Payable Specialists in various accounts payable tasks.

Your attention to detail and flawless execution will ensure that our payment processes run smoothly and efficiently.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Reviewing and approving payment registers.
  • Analyzing and setting up acquisition vendors.
  • Guiding Accounts Payable Specialists in vendor setup, banking data accuracy, and vendor payments.
  • Performing regular tasks such as analyzing non-resident withholding taxes and conducting monthly reconciliations.
  • Participating in accounting/finance projects and contributing to reporting and data gathering.
  • Maintaining knowledge of payment run processes and assisting others in payment information setup.
  • Providing training to administrative staff on accounts payable process and company policy.
  • Providing backup support for Accounts Payable Specialists.
  • Monitoring payment runs produced by Accounts Payable Specialists and complex processes supporting Finance and Accounting.-
  • Communicating any policy or value inconsistencies.
  • Suggesting and implementing process changes.
  • Collaborating with others to resolve complex accounts payable issues.
  • Providing input on new approaches within the Accounts Payable group.
  • Assisting in incorporating new objectives and goals for Financial Services and Capital Power.
  • Managing and supporting research on tax setups for sales and use tax in the US.
  • Maintaining checks and balances to reduce the risk of financial and payment errors.
  • Coordinating with other teams to ensure timely completion of audits.
  • Adhering to established controls and prepare compliance documentation.
  • Managing and supporting Accounts Payable Specialist's access to sales tax systems in the US.
  • Adhering to Health, Safety & Environment procedures and standards.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:


  • Completed High School Diploma.
  • Postsecondary education in a related field.

Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 5 to 9 years of experience in accounts payable in a large corporate environment, with experience in payment processing. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Strong communication skills. Proven problemsolving ability. Excellent planning and organizing skills. Recent experience working with Oracle and/or Workday would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Position will work from home two days per week and is in the office three days per week, with possible very mínimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required in this position but identified most often in advance.

Additional Details:
Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
