Required Skills:

Manager, Legal Affairs will primarily support the management of IMAX's trademark portfolio, while also supporting administration of IMAX's patent portfolio and assisting with other departmental tasks and projects


Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the management of IMAX's trademark portfolio
  • Support global trademark enforcement, including reviewing watch notices, gathering evidence, and assisting with the management of oppositions, cancellations, and potential disputes
  • Communicate and instruct outside counsel and foreign associates in various jurisdictions regarding trademarkrelated matters
  • Provide operational and business assistance on all trademarkrelated matters, including review of appropriate trademark usage on marketing and advertising materials
  • Review and assist with all IPrelated filings and documents
  • Maintain and use trademark and patent databases
  • Manage and assist with patent renewals and payment of maintenance fees
  • Manage IMAX's portfolio of domain names, including renewals and dispute resolution

Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Minimum 3 years of trademark experience as a paralegal or trademark specialist/agent (inhouse corporate experience is a plus)
  • High sense of urgency and excellent organization skills required to manage multiple tasks from multiple sources and meet required deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a commitment to professionalism, integrity and collegiality, and the ability to work on a wide range of legal matters
  • Must be independent, selfdirected, and able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required
  • Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel, experience with Power Point is an asset
  • Experience in managing multiple drafts, revisions of contracts, using comparison software, and maintaining efficient and highly organized paper and electronic filing systems
