ONA is excited to offer a Summer Student position on our
Public Sector Labour Relations Transition Act (PSLRTA)/Organizing team in Toronto.

The successful student will be integrated into the Provincial Office operations of Canada's largest nurses' union, participating in the labour movement while learning about the many issues that arise for members and gaining invaluable networking experience.

The successful student will have an opportunity to learn how ONA provides lead support to members by recruitment and retention through organizing campaigns and empowering the growth of new ONA members and more


This is what else you can expect to do in this dynamic role:

  • Review paper files to see if they are already housed in GEL;
  • If files are not in GEL, they are to be reviewed based on guidance from the Manager II, Negotiations
  • LTC and Community, PSLTRA and Organizing. Direction will be provided to scan files into existing GEL files, create GEL files to house scanned files and/or identifying files as appropriate for shredding.
  • Organize paper files into categories to be retained or shredded based on direction.
  • Attend weekly connects with Manager to clarify next steps on files that do not meet identified criteria for actions noted above.
  • Ensure that sorted files are labeled for destruction when identified to ensure completion of the review.

Student Program Experience & What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) student who will be going into the final year or second-last year of their undergraduate program.

The successful student must be organized and detail oriented, with good writing and analytical skills. Experience in database management is a definite asset.
