PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), the incumbent will:

  • be responsible for all aspects of staff scheduling for Grandview Lodge employees (Note: Staff scheduling and
interpretation of related collective agreement language is the primary function of this position),
- coordinate payroll information for Grandview lodge employees, using the payroll automation system,
- provide administrative and clerical services to the management group at Grandview Lodge to support efficient

operations of the home.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


  • College Diploma / Degree relative to area of responsibility (i.e. Human Resources, Business Administration, etc.).

PLUS

  • Up to 5 years current related work experience (may include additional speciality training).
  • Experience working with Staff Schedule Care software considered an asset.
Or equivalent to the above.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Thorough understanding of Grandview Lodge and administration procedures to recommend and / or undertake
activities that increase efficiency of department / division (for example: communication documents, records
management, meeting / event organization and recording of minutes).

  • Excellent capacity for use of scheduling technology along with the ability to recognize and suggest process
improvements using technology.

  • Good understanding of municipal government, its operations and services and legislation that affects Grandview.
  • Ability to influence staff to reach common objectives of the home.
  • Proven initiative to work independently or as a team member with mínimal direction; to identify issues and
recommend solutions to resolve them.

  • Exceptional time management / organization skills to identify priorities and rearrange work when required to meet
identified and rapidly changing deadlines.

  • Ability to interpret collective agreements, with specific knowledge and understanding of union contracts as they
relate to scheduling, to ensure rules are applied for scheduling purposes.

  • Communication skills (listening, writing, verbal) to diplomatically and patiently deal with staff from all areas,
address administrative issues, inquiries from staff / public; to edit / proofread documents generated for / by staff;
to prepare documentation for management review and signature.

  • Valid Ontario Drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.

COMPUTER EXPERTISE:

Level - The incumbent must possess intermediate and advanced computer skills scored at 75% or higher for Outlook
