The primary goal for this new role within Husky involves creating and maintaining a portfolio of key initiatives that will be enablers for successful implementation of new projects.

The Project Specialist will participate as a member of the Integrated Project Team (IPT) in the Stage Gate process and will represent Supply Chain.

He or she will leverage GSC resources to meet target lead times, planned bill of materials costing and launch dates.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Create a portfolio of continuous improvement opportunities
  • Scope each opportunity and develop clear project charters for each opportunity
  • Create Key Performance Indicators to measure success for each project
  • Align each project charter with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure the scope is clear
  • Identify resource requirements and work with stakeholders to prioritize the portfolio of projects
  • Depending on resource availability and how many projects will run in parallel, this role may focus on tracking and reporting the key milestones for each project in progress. (ie. There may be a need for assignment of individual project managers for each continuous improvement opportunity)
  • Measure performance and share results regularly with key stakeholders and team members
  • Track and prioritize open issues, resolve and close where possible
  • Manage, Coordinate and communicate Supply Chain activities in the Stage Gate process
  • Work with Husky's supply chain organization to identify and qualify primary suppliers in support of new products.
  • Support Finance to determine target bill of material costing
  • Cost model new and current product and analyze changes over time
  • Participate as voice of supply chain in stage gate and engineering meetings
  • Identifies risks and obstacles to launch new product successfully and solicit the necessary assistance to overcome these risks and obstacles
  • Support purchase requests from Development Engineering (PURREQ) by issuing purchase orders and ensure ontime delivery

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education or equivalent work experience.
years project management experience including scheduling and budget responsibilities

  • Strong financial knowledge and insight an asset
  • Product development experience with both internal and external resources
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; knowledge of Project Management Process
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, conflict management skills and the ability to professionally interact with team members
  • Project management experience including scheduling and budget responsibilities is required.
  • Project management professional designation preferred.
  • Strong financial knowledge and insight an asset
  • Excellent facilitation, organizational and communication skills
  • Above average problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
