    About the work environment:

    Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm with flexibility around start & end times.

    About you:

    As a Senior Accountant, you will take charge of preparing monthly Expected Credit Losses and related reports, while also assisting with year-end audit. Collaborating with the Accounting Manager, Leasing & Securitization to ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables of the team are met. You are a curious and passionate accounting professional. You crave process improvement and efficiency wins while managing the day-to-day accounting operations. You are a forward thinking, strategic and solutions focused accountant with a wealth of experience and technical know-how.

    About the day-to-day:

  • Research and analyze changes in the macroeconomy for forward-looking indicators
  • Prepare Expected Credit Losses models and all related reporting
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, trial balances, income statements, balance sheets
  • Assist with preparing notes to financial statements for auditors
  • Assist for fair valuation and proper accounting treatment of leases and securitization
  • Ensuring adequacy of controls to confirm accuracy, timeliness, and authorization, updating as business requirements evolve
  • Improving processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, controls
  • Coordinate the month end close, including process improvement recommendations
  • About you / qualifications:

  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive professional accounting experience
  • Ability to interpret accounting standards and recommend accounting treatment for complex transactions in compliance with IFRS across multiple legal entities
  • Experience with Expected Credit Losses is advantageous
  • Exposure to high-growth environment or financial institution is a plus
  • Familiarity with NetSuite considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Excel, with strong data analysis skills, experience with Power Query is a bonus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to influence operational/policy changes cross-functionally in a positive manner
  • Annual Compensation:

    Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary and discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $80,000 and $90,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities & experience that the chosen candidate possess.
