Manager - Management Insights and Analysis


The Sun Life Health (SLH) business within Sun Life Canada is a leading provider of Group Benefits with over $12.8 billion of Business in Force.

A market leader in the advancement of workplace mental health across Canada, through the introduction of new tools such as Lumino Health Virtual Care's Stress Management and Well-Being program providing members access to mental health and medical specialists 24/7.

SLH is seeking a Manager to join its fast-paced and energetic Finance team to better support its growth.


The Manager is a key member of the Sun Life Health Financial Reporting Team responsible for reporting and analysis to support internal and external reporting.

This is a highly visible role accountable in the analysis and presentation of key results presented to senior leadership.


Reporting to Director, Management Insights & Analysis, the Manager will work closely with the broader Sun Life Health Finance team and various business partners including but not limited to corporate finance, actuarial, tax, strategy and product development in the execution of key financial reporting and management accountabilities.


What will you do?

  • Support the consolidation of a new strategic acquisition on a quarterly basis within the normal financial reporting timelines of the broader organization
  • Lead the coordination of finance activities supporting the close across the various Finance teams within Sun Life Health with respect to the newly acquired company
  • Support the evolving Financial Reporting needs of senior leadership with respect to the newly acquired company on a monthly, quarterly, and adhoc basis
  • Assist with the creation of the SLH Quarterly Business Review (QBR) results package by coordinating across the various functional teams
  • Build and execute processes for analyzing results of various business lines against plan, forecast and trends
  • Support financial analysis and complex accounting transactions of strategic projects and initiatives as needed, including business combinations, joint ventures, or property acquisitions
  • Assist with the GB income forecast process by collaborating with various functional teams for their inputs
  • Develop and maintain analyses to better understand the business, and track several performance indicators on a monthly basis
  • Improve and optimize reporting and analysis processes and related documentation

What you need to succeed?

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Proficiency with MS office package, advanced skills in the use of Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize amongst competing priorities, and excellent ability to communicate progress and concerns
  • Attention to detail at multiple layers
  • Strong initiative, selfmotivated and demonstrates ability to work independently and meet timelines within a fastpaced environment

Assets

  • Experience with accounting for consolidations
  • Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards including IFRS 1
  • Experience within the insurance industry, financial institutions or public accounting firm
  • Familiarity with SAP ledger

Qualifications

  • CPA or equivalent designation
  • 35+ years of relevant professional experience
