The opportunity


The Operations Planning West team is seeking a System Operations Lead who will be responsible for supporting hydraulic analysis and operational support for TC Energy's NGTL and Foothills gas pipeline systems.

This role will provide the opportunity to expand knowledge of the Canadian regulated pipeline business and the natural gas industry

What you'll do

  • Plan, support, and optimize the operation of TC Energy's dynamic gas pipeline system in on the NGTL and Foothills systems
  • Provide direction, technical guidance, and support to Outage Coordination Engineers to execute maintenance activities while collaborating with internal departments, interconnecting pipelines, producers, and customers
  • Act as an initial point of contact for system optimization issues and opportunities from other internal groups including Gas Control, Field Operations, Mainline Planning, Customer Solutions, Pipeline Integrity, Engineering, and Commercial
  • Review analytical / technical assignments which requires significant familiarity with NGTL and Foothills systems
  • Participate in a rotating oncall schedule to provide system guidance and support to Gas Control and other relevant stakeholders for emergency response purposes
  • Collaborate with other Area Leads in developing team members ability to complete independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions while driving consistency in approach
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Applied Science (or equivalent as recognized by provincial regulators)
  • Six or more years of progressive, relevant experience
  • Must have working knowledge of gas pipeline hydraulics and the NGTL and Foothills transmission systems
  • Must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), in good standing
