Job Summary

General tank construction and labour skills: welding, grinding, fitting, tacking, and lifting among various other tasks that may be required. This position is part of the team for the Suncor Baseplant project near Fort McMurray, AB.

• The schedule is 10 days on, 4 days off, with 10 to 12-hour days. Travel to the site is on Mondays to start Tuesdays, and return home is either after a full workday on Thursday or an option to stay over and travel back on Friday.
• Camp accommodations provided with travel allowance at the beginning and end of the job.
• Bussing available between the camp and the job site.
• Applicants must be ready to start soon with the project running until the end of June.
• Required to have an active apprenticeship card from a provincial governing body.
• Must successfully pass a weld test and D&A screen prior to employment.

Essential Functions:

• Actively supports the company's dedication to safety and core values.

• Various welding tasks in different positions and conditions.
• Read and communicate measurements effectively.
• Assist in loading and unloading equipment and material shipments.
• Work in confined spaces and at heights with safety precautions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Read and interpret prints and drawings.
• Communicate effectively with foremen and co-workers.
• Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work in a team and independently.
• Hard work ethic and openness to learning.
• Past experience at Syncrude is beneficial.

Training Required:

• OSSA Regional Orientation OR Common Safety Orientation.
• CSTS-09 OR CSTS-20.
• OSSA/ESC Fall Protection.
• OSSA/ESC Confined Space.
• OSSA/ESC AWP.
• Air Purifying Respirator (APR).
• Respiratory Protective Equipment Training (RPE).
• Fit Tests for specific equipment.
