About the library

In keeping with the ambitious vision and core aspirations of Transformation 2030, the University of Ottawa Library advances leading-edge research and supports transformative learning by connecting the uOttawa community to expertise, services, collections and technology in a welcoming and supportive environment.


The University of Ottawa Library consists of three main libraries - the Morisset Library (arts and sciences), the Brian Dickson Law Library and the Health Sciences Library - in addition to a number of specialized research collections.

It employs some 150 staff, including 55 librarians, serving students, faculty and staff of the University.


Job purpose
Coordinates and supports initiatives related to inclusion, accessibility, marketing and promotion, and events.

The incumbent will also provide front-line support to library users, including students, faculty, researchers and external users, while maintaining a consistent approach that meets customer service excellence criteria.


In this role, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Coordinate and/or provide support for events in support of Library outreach and strategic initiatives in collaboration with staff and organizers.
  • Work closely with the Inclusion Librarian to meet the needs of users with disabilities.
  • Receive, manage and deliver accessible content requests.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote and publicize events.
  • Offer technical expertise by providing users with information on library services and guiding them in their use of the computerized catalog, databases and research guides to foster a better understanding of the Library's resources.
  • Organize and participate in the development and implementation of initiatives to enhance the student experience.

What you bring:


  • Postsecondary education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years experience in customer service.
  • At least one year of experience in file coordination.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality of work.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Awareness of the needs of underrepresented populations and the challenges they face.
  • Knowledge of university libraries and bibliographic elements needed to conduct document research.
  • Ability to manipulate and interpret computer data; to calculate, verify and record data accurately and precisely.
  • Ability to present to groups, in French and English.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with a variety of clientele (students, teachers, administrative staff, management, community members), both orally and in writing.
  • Analytical skills to determine customer needs, identify sources of problems and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to work on several files simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
