Description:

As a Public Health Inspector I and appointed Executive Officer under the authority of the Public Health Act, you will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive environmental public health program within an assigned geographical area.

You will perform work duties in the interest of prevention, correcting or limiting the effects of environmental health hazards, whether physical, chemical or biological in nature, which may adversely affect the health of individuals or communities.

You will support individual and community wellness through monitoring inspections, disease surveillance, consultation and enforcement of the Public Health Act and regulations within safe food, safe drinking water, safe recreational water, safe built environment and healthy environments.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or in a related field of study plus a recognized Environmental Health technical program.

Completion of certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada). Active Member in Good Standing with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).

Preferred Qualifications:


Preferred qualifications include several years of urban/rural experience in program areas such as safe housing, personal services, day care, and aquatic facilities inspection, outbreak response and TSV in addition to a proven track record with effective time management, prioritization, and the ability to work within a sometimes complex urban dynamic with multiple considerations.
