What you'll do

  • Directs the strategic planning process and coordinates the process of operational planning across the assigned clinical program in collaboration with the IPAC Director. Integrates specific goals and objectives into the activities of the clinical services ensuring linkages with individual performance plans, and quality management initiatives.
  • Oversees and coordinates ongoing program team planning, development, evaluation and quality improvement activities that facilitate team goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution and collaboration by arranging and facilitating meetings and inservices; reviewing team policies and procedures, revising documents, and developing new policies and procedures; selecting and utilizing outcome measures, implementing new approaches to care, and evaluating effect of changes in patient centered care practice; composing semiannual and annual reports; and consults with team and collaborates with other IPAC Clinical Managers and the Director regarding efficiency of processes and procedures and changes in policies and procedures to ensure streamlined, effective and patient/family centered practices.
  • Manages service area operations by coordinating and establishing priorities, assessing and monitoring staffing requirements and supplies. Defines an effective workforce plan in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders that ensures the availability of adequate & appropriate staff according to operational demands and environmental and resource constraints. Develops, recommends, implements and evaluates staffing patterns, rotations and vacation schedules to ensure staffing to meet patient needs.
  • Provides leadership to staff through collaborative coaching, guiding and modeling key behaviours and strategies, encouraging dialogue and providing guidance and advice to facilitate resolutions to work issues. Fosters partnerships and establishes systems that ensure seamless client flow.
  • Ensures that human resource plans address the recruitment and retention issues for the program. Creates, implements and evaluates an effective workforce plan for the program in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders that ensure the availability of adequate staff within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints.
  • Implements effective performance development and performance management processes in an interdisciplinary team environment. Oversees all aspects of human resource management within the portfolio including investigating work and staff issues, initiating disciplinary action up to and including termination, administration of policies and procedures, implementation of corporate initiatives, programs and services. Participates in labour relations, including the grievance process and essential services planning. Monitors and facilitates requests for overtime, vacation, leaves of absences, and sick time.
  • Prepares, monitors, and analyzes staffing, operating, and capital budgets for the program in collaboration with the IPAC Leadership team and Clinical Program's Stakeholders and Leaders. Allocates and manages available resources including staff resources, minor and capital equipment purchases and space reallocations to ensure the delivery of interprofessional services within the program. Develops the program budget to complement strategic directions within existing fiscal constraints and uses utilization methods to monitor and adhere to allocated budget. Develops effective and efficient practices and processes to measure use of resources and the quality of care rendered within the allocated budget.
  • Contributes to the identification, planning and evaluation of educational sessions for IPAC staff reports. Facilitates the development and implementation of orientation programs for new staff.
  • In consultation with internal and external IPAC stakeholders provides leadership in investigating and reporting serious patient safety incidents. Reviews and followsup incident reports (both patient/family and staff) by sharing outcomes and subsequent practice changes to program staff.
  • Ensures that the work environment and all equipment are safe through a preventative maintenance program and adherence to OH&S standards and programs.
