Full-time:37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8 hour shifts ranging from 8AM to 9PM
-
Part-time: Approximately 11.25 to 22.5 hours per week, Saturday and/or Sunday, 8AM to 8PM, plus the opportunity to cover open Monday to Friday shifts.


Status:
Full-time and part-time permanent, (OPSEU Bargaining Unit)


Compensation:
$22.79 to $27.08 per hour (7 step salary progression grid)


About the Role:


As Casey House's forefront liaison, the Client Support Assistant (CSA) acts as a first point of contact for members of the community coming to Casey House.

This will include individuals who use substances or have an active mental health condition, who request information, referrals, require immediate intervention or who are accessing services.

The CSA is responsible for providing low-barrier supports to clients by creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere in the lobby and vestibule.


In addition, the CSA is responsible for reception tasks, assisting clients and staff in navigating internal and external programs and services, as well as facilitating appropriate access to resources within Casey House and connecting clients with crisis intervention strategies and additional supports when necessary.

More specifically, your responsibilities in this role will entail, but are not restricted to:

Client Engagement and Support

  • Welcome all clients, community members, visitors and staff entering the building while establish rapport to build trust and promote effective service use.
  • Provide registration information to clients interested in outpatient program resources.
  • Active engagement with community members seeking support, including providing information on intake pathway to those interested in outpatient program resources.
  • Take a 'no wrong door' approach in providing information on external services to clients and community members such as food/meal programs, drop in programming, community harm reduction and homelessness supports and appropriate external social services.
  • Engage in deescalation with clients and community members in crisis on Casey House property when needed.
  • Respond to requests for material assistance with the view to building rapport and identifying additional supports.
  • Monitor clients, visitors and staff entering and leaving the building, and client activities on the exterior property, with a key focus on identifying medical emergencies, including opioid overdose.
  • Build and replenish harm reduction kits (needle distribution, etc.), provide custom harm reduction kits as requested, and ensure the distribution of the kits is recorded accurately.
  • Engage community members while participating in Casey House's needle pickup program.
  • Provide take home Naloxone kits to community members and clients as requested, assessing knowledge of opioid overdose and providing information according to naloxone distribution procedures.
  • Support the Operations and Clinical Teams in assessing and advocating for the needs of Casey House clients.

Administrative and General Duties

  • Keep daily client appointment log up to date, maintain and report incident information, and inform other staff, students and volunteers of any program or policy changes when necessary.
  • Assist with displays, activities, and events on the ground floor.
  • Manage the annunciator for all codes.
  • Inventory management and record keeping of snack pack and comfort fund items.
  • Arrange, accept and distribute items for delivery and pickup through couriers.
  • Manage all phone calls, visitor sign in sheets, and confidentiality forms for all internal/external stakeholders.
