Rubicon Organics' mission is to grow the best cannabis on earth and for the earth and today we are doing just that out of our state-of-the art greenhouse facility located in Delta, B.C.We are growing and expanding quickly, with national distribution across Canada.
We are launching many new products each quarter as we bring exciting new genetics and extracted products to market in Canada and around the world.
As the category specialist you will be responsible for analyzing consumer and category data to provide business insights and recommendations to improve sales, operations, and profitability for the Canadian market and for all Cannabis categories.
This individual will report directly to the Business Insights and Development Director, while working cross functionally with sales, marketing, finance and the operational team.
Responsibilities
Provide the wider business with a clear understanding of current category performance and the future
- Identify and capitalize upon white space opportunities based on findings from consumer insights, social listening, CRM data, etc.
- Recommend an innovative product development and pipeline strategy to further brand strategic initiatives, including focusing on fastgrowing categories and development of hero products
- Assist in development of 3year innovation strategy and 24month detailed calendar including innovative and trendsetting market strategies, promotional programs, and product concepts
- Monitor and keep current on brand, category, competitor, and industry performance to identify and capitalize on emerging trends using developed tools or building new tools and models as needed
- Proactively remain on top of the fastmoving competitive and market landscape to identify future opportunities.
- Collaborate internally with commercial team to develop category/business review, and key brand/category initiatives and innovation sales decks
- Understand the shopper insights, category development, sales performance and commercial strategy to develop selling stories to sell in new products and provide category reviews to our customers.
- Engage in customer meetings to present new strategy, innovation and other key initiatives with customer teams
- Monitor and analyze competitive trade activities, assess implications and recommend indicated action
Deliver ad-hoc reporting to support business evaluation and analysis, as required
Requirements*:
Business degree/equivalent
1-3 years of analytical experience in consumer goods, retail, or other relevant industry experience
Sales experience at account management level where fact-based selling and category reviews are leveraged
Strong organizational and project management skills, able to plan, execute and juggle multiple projects and priorities successfully.
Strong communication skills, effective relationship building with a high level of initiative
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Self-starter who is able to manage time well.
Entrepreneurial mindset, innovative and creative; able to spot or create original, authentic product opportunities
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving skills and organization skills
Actively involved in special projects, as required
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
