- The Distribution and Finishing Manager is responsible for coordinating the production and maintenance requirements of the department to ensure full production and equipment availability.
- Is responsible to ensure that the Shift Supervisors are developing safe working practices for their crew members and are maintaining company safety procedures and practices. The Manager will ensure the follow through with work orders to cover safety items in the applicable area of responsibility.
- Is responsible for warehousing and managing shipments of paper leaving the mill and raw materials and finishing supplies entering the mill.
- Is responsible for receiving, warehousing repulping of kraft pulp and other market pulps as needed.
- Is responsible for managing, warehousing and repulping of beater paper.
- Reviews operating procedures, processes and equipment regularly; continually trying to improve methods and techniques for better quality at lower cost.
- Is responsible for the preparation and administration of the annual department budget for operating, maintenance, major maintenance, and capital fixed cost expenditures.
- Coordinate and provide leadership to ensure that departmental safety programs such as lockout review; task hazard analysis development and review; safe work procedure reviews are carried out as per mill policies.
- Ensure that all aspects and objectives of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) programs and standards are maintained.
- Coordinate the production and maintenance requirements of the department to ensure full production and equipment availability.
- Participate actively in the mills safety program, particularly with the Distribution and Finishing operations and maintenance personnel.
- Propose and/or implement new methods, equipment, or techniques in keeping with the latest industry developments.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to prepare and administer the Distribution and Finishing annual maintenance, major maintenance and capital budgets.
- Ensure the staff team coordinates operational requirements for Distribution and Finishing daily maintenance work and prepares schedules for scheduled shutdown work.
- Ensure, with the help of staff team, the preparation of Distribution and Finishing Operating Procedures, Safe Work Procedures and Distribution and Finishing Operating Instructions.
- Prepare and issue Daily and Weekend Notes to Supervisors detailing operational and maintenance events of the day along with expectations for the night and/or weekend period. Details regarding changes to quality specifications are also included.
- Ensure departmental weekly and monthly reports are completed and distributed.
- High school or university graduate plus eight (8) to ten (10) years related experience.
- Requires knowledge of mill production methods, maintenance and operating capabilities and the ability necessary to plan and coordinate the manufacture of CTMP in accordance with the mill's needs.
