The role in a nutshell
We have an exciting position available within Human Resources for Glencore's Nickel division in our Toronto office.


You will be responsible for various functions, such as, front-line HR business partner services for employees located primarily in Toronto, certain retiree groups and expatriates; HR administration; HR generalist support for the Nickel Human Resources team; and payroll process support.


In this role, you will provide administrative support across all aspects of human resources including, policy administration, employee data maintenance, compensation, onboarding and off boarding processes, records management, reporting and payroll support.


The position requires the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, a strong orientation towards employee support, proven written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills, and maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities and handle confidential matters with discretion.


This role reports to the Manager of Human Resources located in our Toronto office and collaborates closely with the Vice President Human Resources Nickel, the Toronto HR team and the global nickel site HR Leads.


More specifically, you will:


  • Respond to daytoday inquiries from Torontobased employees, retirees and expatriates on a wide range of HR matters, including benefits and pension, policies, and programs.
  • Manage all new hire documentation and performs a variety of administrative support activities for employee status changes
  • Maintain uptodate and accurate HR information in our HRIS and other HR administration systems, generates various reports, and participates in HR system testing.
  • Plan and execute the orientation and onboarding program for new hires or employees transferred to Toronto, including the off boarding process.
  • Oversee the annual flexible benefits enrollment for the Toronto employee
  • Run and adjudicate HR programs (Fitness Subsidy and Donation Matching Approvals)
  • Administration of HR policies and programs.
  • Generate the headcount and gender diversity reports for Toronto and Nickel business and various other reports as requested.
  • Assist in compensation initiative including the year end compensation process for the Toronto office and Nickel Management.
  • Ensure that all employee information is accurate for proper payroll processing and provide payroll support when needed.
  • Support all aspects of the disability management program including shortterm/longterm disability, WSIB and the returntowork program
  • Processes payments of premiums and invoices for the HR department
  • Provide generalist support to the Nickel HR team
  • Perform other duties and assist with adhoc HR projects

Do you have what it takes?

  • University Bachelor's degree or college diploma, in Human Resources, Business, Finance or other appropriate study or equivalent experience within Human Resources
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in Human Resources or other related area.
  • Human Resources professional designation is an asset.
  • Understanding of several functional areas of Human Resources, including compensation and payroll.
  • Sincere customer service focus, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to work independently, multitask, and balance conflicting priorities. Operates effectively in stressful situations. Displays discretion when handling sensitive/confidential information and issues.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, HRIS (SAP), and pension and benefits administration systems.

Languages:
A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of French would be an asset.
