DIVISION OF NEUROLOGY

1-year TERM

The Department of Pediatrics at CHEO, University of Ottawa is recruiting a full-time locum Pediatric Neurologist within the Division of Neurology to fill a 1-year term beginning in July 2026.

The ideal candidate will be Royal College (Neurology) certified or equivalent, who can provide inpatient and outpatient consultation services for infants and children with acute and chronic neurological disorders. The candidate will be expected to provide on-call coverage for some evenings and weekends .  While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.

The Department of Pediatrics is affiliated with CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute and the University of Ottawa. Together, we provide outstanding patient care, leading research, and quality pediatric medical education. The Department of Pediatrics provides health care to newborns, children, and youth of the Ottawa area, as well as those from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario (population of approximately 1.8 million). The Department of Pediatrics has 18 distinct divisions, which include Neurology.

The Division of Neurology provides neurological care for the children including general neurology as well as specialized clinics in epilepsy, sleep, white matter disorders, movement disorders and neuromuscular disorders. Pediatric Neurologists provide clinical care in both inpatient and outpatient clinic settings, provide on-call coverage and actively engage in academic research and contribute to educational activities. 

CHEO has an active and accredited Pediatric Neurology Residency training program and offers Fellowships training in Epilepsy/EEG and Neuromuscular/EMG. We educate residents in pediatric neurology in our Royal College program in pediatric neurology and are also involved in education for pediatric, adult neurology and rehabilitation medicine residents. We are active members of many research networks nationally and internationally and are also involved in education research.

Priority will be given to candidates with certification with the Royal College of Physicians of Surgeons (Neurology) although equivalent training in other countries/jurisdictions will be considered.
