    Position: Junior School Teacher (Intermediate)

    Terms: Full-Time Permanent

    Reports to: Junior School Principal

    Job Description:

    Junior School classroom teachers inspire students to reach their full potential in all areas of school life. Using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme framework and philosophy, all teachers provide a rich and varied, experiential and rigorous programme that develops our students' skills and personal qualities to a very high level. Teachers are expected to be committed to continuous improvement, to always be looking to enrich and deepen the educational programme for the students, and to play an active part in the wider life of the school.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to the following:

    • Develop a classroom environment that builds positive relationships and fosters an ethic of care
    • Design and facilitate active learning experiences that support inquiry
    • Provide a variety of differentiated learning opportunities to meet the needs and interests of individual students
    • Ensure that students are appropriately challenged, engaged, and inspired
    • Monitor and evaluate student progress and performance through a range of assessment tools and strategies
    • Communicate effectively and regularly with colleagues, students and their families regarding progress and needs
    • Remain current with new educational developments, pedagogy and resources, and incorporate appropriately into teaching practices
    • Design and lead two co-curricular activities
    • Participate in departmental, divisional, school meetings, and parent meetings
    • Attend professional development workshops as required by the school

    Qualifications:

    • Understanding and knowledge of IB programmes (experience teaching in the PYP is an asset)
    • Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
    • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
    • Eagerness to endorse the school's Mission and Values

    Candidates will be expected to:

    • Have Canadian residency and be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Possess all of the requirements and certifications to teach in BC
    • Hold or be prepared to attain an age-appropriate First Aid Certificate

    The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $66, $119, The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
