Job Purpose


Providing leadership and direction to all servers to the set-up, preparation, serving and clean up associated with all meal services in the Residence/Home.

A good Dietary Supervisor is cheerful, courteous, and works well under pressure with kitchen personnel and other workers to succeed.

The successful Dietary Supervisor must be reliable, efficient, attentive team leader, and have excellent customer service skills.


Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with creation, adjustment and monitoring dietary schedule.
  • Responsible for maintaining log book and
  • Serving meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Leading in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages salads, desserts, etc.;
  • Setting and clearing dining tables and delivering tray service as required;
  • Assisting with cleaning of dishware, cutlery at the conclusion of each seating as required;
  • Assisting with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required;
  • Assisting with catering, and actively participating in special occasions and theme events;
  • Leading the orientation and training of new dietary employees;
  • Following and complying with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures;
  • Complying with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures;
  • Being aware of the Resident Rights and Responsibilities and endeavour to respect and promote it;
  • Attending inservice training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents;
  • Attending staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place;
  • Participating in the Quality Improvement Program;
  • Working in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
  • Upholding and promoting the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Metropolitan Kiwanis Code of Conduct;
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • A Food Handler's Certificate
  • Experience in the food service industry and working with seniors
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Physical ability to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for most of the shift
  • Complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check)

Working Conditions

  • Overtime may be required.
  • Work may require some occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • Extended periods of standing.
  • Exposure to hazards like chemicals and electronic devices.

Salary:
$16.15-$18.20 per hour
