    Job Description

    As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day management of industrial engineering projects and services provided by the company, ensuring that progress is made with scope, deliverables and customer service needs are fulfilled with contract terms and conditions met. You will need to be proficient in and accountable for strategic, tactical, and managerial matters associated with project execution commencing during proposal development and continuing through start-up, commissioning and close-out.

    This role is ideal for a candidate with strong communication skills and an engineer with business acumen. In this position, the successful candidate will be involved in a wide array of projects mainly focused on mechanical engineering (materials handling, ports, industrial facilities, etc.) but will intersect with other disciplines including electrical, civil, structural and environmental engineering. The role will be outward focused dealing directly with clients managing and delivering exceptional engineering services while building client relationships adhering to the mission and vision of Sacré-Davey Engineering.

    Responsibilities


    • Establishment of plans, goals, objectives, work breakdown structures, schedules, milestones, budgets, risk assessments and overall deliverables for projects targeting industrial sector clients big and small.


    • Working with the Principal and Business Development Team, define work scopes, schedules, risk profiles, budgets and bid strategies for successfully contracting work with SDE clients.


    • Managing the client-company relationship including aspects relating to job progress, deliverables, scope and scheduled changes, invoicing and other customer service aspects during the delivery of a project.


    • Maintain confidentiality and security of highly sensitive information including intellectual property, know-how and trade secrets avoiding conflicts of interest.


    • Manage and motivate project team staff delivering quality engineering services ensuring the flow of required information from the client to the SDE engineering support team with necessary context and background.


    • Control project costs through proper management of scope changes, claims for additional budget/payment, extended timescales, deliverables, etc.


    • Preparation and submittal of monthly job progress reports noting project status compared to budget, deliverables and agreed schedule.


    • Regular and professional engagement with clients to ensure open and direct communication as well as timely resolution of difficulties and problems as they arise.


    • Document and monitor project risks updating risk schedules and mitigation plans where appropriate to improve project outcomes.


    • Organize quality management systems for projects and ensure that quality and project reviews are carried out professionally and timed during the appropriate project phase.


    • Provide input to continuously improve project management processes and procedures.


    • Support the company by providing an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff, including providing on-the-job and formal training.


    • Utilize lessons learned processes to capture, support and leverage relevant knowledge to enhance project execution.

    Qualifications


    • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) recognized by Engineers and Geoscientists in British Columbia – PMP designation an asset.


    • 7-15 years of experience working in and delivering major projects to companies in the industrial sector (ports, mining, energy, transportation, food & beverage, renewables, etc.)


    • Skilled at writing reports, proposals, estimating engineering effort, developing schedules and presenting information to a variety of audiences.


    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to engage with people on a personal level to build trust and teamwork.


    • Project management experience and ability to monitor multiple projects concurrently from concept to completion and close-out.


    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office software products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project.


    • Advanced user working with project management tools and software.


    • An interest in new technology is considered an asset.


    • Ability to perform root-cause analysis to solve problems, address technical challenges and construction issues alike.


    • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff, clients and industry colleagues.


    • Commercial and business acumen as it pertains to interacting with clients and addressing issues relating to budget, contract management, deliverables, scheduling, forecasting, change management and overall customer satisfaction.


    • Ability to communicate strategic direction to motivate and mentor project team members.


    • Full professional fluency in English (oral and written) is required; working fluency in French and/or other languages is considered an asset.
