Undergraduate Recruitment and Programs Advisor:


Primary Purpose:

The Undergraduate Recruitment & Programs Advisor plays a critical role in the drive to improve the academic success, recruitment, retention/persistence rates, graduation rates, and overall quality of the student experience for students in the Edwards School of Business.

In pursuit of these aims, the Undergraduate Recruitment & Programs Advisor will provide specialist academic advising and coaching, mentoring, and administrative support for current and prospective students in the College.

The person in this position will implement, uphold, and maintain College policies, procedures, and protocols relating to all students and Edwards School of Business in general.

While advising and mentoring students, the Undergraduate Recruitment & Programs Advisor will develop, plan and execute recruitment activities for the College.


Nature of Work:

Reporting to the Manager, Student Services, this is one of four positions offering student advising and support for current and prospective undergraduate and certificate students.

This position functions independently and efficiently in a high-volume, multi-tasking environment.

The position requires interactions with the Edwards School of Business Deans, Department Heads, faculty, staff and other administrative personnel on the University of Saskatchewan campus.

Non-standard hours and evening work may be required during peak times. Some provincial travel related to student recruitment events, and activities can be expected.


Typical Duties/Accountabilities:


Advising Student Support:

  • Responsible for academic advising, interpretation, maintenance and communication of program requirements, academic regulations, graduation standards, and academic policies
  • Assist with the registration process including class permissions, class overrides, degree audit and elective selection guidance
  • Membership on

University Committees:
Academic Advisors, Recruitment Community Forum

  • Provide ongoing support to the other academic advisors and the Manager, Student Services and other duties as required
Recruitment

  • Assist with development of recruitment plans and execute recruitment initiatives targeted at prospective direct entry and transfer students
  • Plan and execute external recruitment activities for all students (i.e. select fairs, expos)
  • Organize on campus recruitment events (i.e. Open House, U-Start and Orientation)
  • Tracking, analyze and report outcomes and statistics related to undergraduate and student recruitment in USask RMS Recruit and Edwards monthly recruitment meetings
  • Work in collaboration with the Edwards Sr. Communications Officer to recruit, train and assign duties for student Ambassadors
  • Co-Lead with external vendors for the Edwards recruitment software (UniBuddy)
  • Support the Senior Communications Officer in social media campaigns and promotions

Qualifications

Education:
Four-year undergraduate degree is required. Bachelor of Commerce is considered an asset.


Experience:

A minimum of three years of university level experience working with undergraduate students and in the educational field is preferred.

The applicant should have experience in recruitment activities as well as engaging with multiple stakeholders. An equivalent combination of academic experience and education may be considered.


Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience presenting to groups of all sizes

  • High level of comfort presenting to large audiences and use of technology platforms such as (i.e Zoom, Instagram, etc.)
  • Proven event planning skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Contributes to a positive, diverse, and inclusive work and learning environment by actively engaging in mentoring, selfawareness learning opportunities, relationship building, and communication, etc.
  • Experience with Banner/SiRIUS and RMS Recruit desired
  • Knowledge of the Bachelor of Commerce program desired
