About position

The successful applicated will contribute to the study of pathogen diversity, hose parasite interactions and evaluation of plant resistance mechanisms.

This is an on-site position in Saskatoon, Canada and is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and those with current Canadian work permits.

Responsibilities:

• In charge of research projects in the field, greenhouse and the lab settings
• Responsible for all greenhouse and growth chamber operation, including planting, seed treating, managing growth conditions (temp, humidity, levels of light), field notes, harvesting.

- develop bioassays, experimental protocols and standard operating procedures
- experience with sterile techniques and conducting experiments in lab and greenhouse with plants and pathogens
- knowledge of optimal conditions for growing field crops (i.e., field corn, soybeans, pulse crops)
- responsible for providing both analytical and technical support for various research projects
- ability to work in greenhouse conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
- ability to work with biological and biochemicals and follow safety procedures
- must be able to work individually and in a team setting.

Preferred applicant would have the following qualifications:

• BSc / MSc in plant science, plant pathology, plant breeding, biology, plant physiology. Microbiology, horticulture or another ag related discipline.
• 2+ years of managing greenhouse / growth chamber experience.
• Ability to travel outside of the Saskatoon area to visit remote trial sites.
• Experience working in agriculture and with Ag equipment a benefit.
• Knowledge of plant pathology or previous work / educational experience in plant pathology

$50,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
