Primary Purpose

  • We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible online experience for everyone. We are looking for a Web Accessibility Specialist to join our team to ensure that our website and digital content are accessible to people with disabilities and complaint with accessibility standards and guidelines.

Web Accessibility Specialist


The Web Accessibility Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that our website and digital content are compliant with accessibility standards and guidelines.

This will involve conducting regular audits and evaluations, as well as providing recommendations for improvements and ensuring remediation works are done.

The Specialist will also be responsible for developing and implementing accessibility policies and procedures, and for training staff on accessibility best practices.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining organizationwide accessibility policies and procedures
  • Serve as an expert resource on web accessibility for web developers, designers, and content creators throughout the organization
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to web developers, designers, and content creators on how to remediate accessibility issues
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies related to web accessibility and accessibility monitoring
  • Keep abreast of new developments in assistive technology and how they can be used to improve web accessibility
  • Train web developers, designers, and content creators on web accessibility best practices
  • Participate in web accessibility audits and reviews conducted by external organizations
  • Prepare detailed reports on web accessibility compliance for senior management

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in web design, computer science, or related field
  • 3+ years experience in web accessibility or related field
  • Indepth knowledge of WCAG 2.0/2.1 guidelines and other accessibility standards
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with screen readers and other assistive technologies
  • Excellent communication, problemsolving, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of web content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress
  • Familiarity with usability testing methodologies

Work Conditions

  • Hybrid work model with an expectation to work onsite as required based on business needs (approximately 2 days per week). Work locations may vary across our Toronto Campuses.
