Duties and responsibilities

As an Industry 4.

0 (EMS) Discipline Manager, and in collaboration with an Engineering and/or IT Group Project Manager, you will be called upon to:


  • Define project deliverables and activities;
  • Define and track project deliverables, schedules and milestones;
  • Track project costs within established budgets;
  • Manage project risks and issues, escalating problems when necessary;
  • Ensure that project documentation is produced for each phase of the project;
  • Complete project tracking reports on a bimonthly basis.
  • Plan and coordinate project resources;
  • Coordinate infrastructure and networking work with the IT department;
  • Carry out and monitor equipment purchases;
  • Plan meetings and training sessions with plant personnel;
  • Plan internal testing, preoperational verification (PIV) and commissioning activities.
Qualities required to succeed in this role

  • Around 10 years' experience, including 5 years in project management;
  • University degree or college diploma in computer science, or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of data science and/or autonomous systems and/or automation;
  • Leadership, rigor, autonomy, responsible, entrepreneurial approach to project delivery;
  • Ability to communicate and work as part of a team;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French;
  • Functional level of English is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring interaction with national and global customers.

Assets:

  • PMP certification;
  • Experience in automation and IT desirable;
  • Experience in people management ;
  • Experience working in industrial environments, preferably at Rio Tinto;
  • Experience with the EDA programming language used at Rio Tinto;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Familiar with Agile project management.


Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring interactions with domestic and global clients.
