Job description summary:

The Shift Lead position is an entry level supervisory role.

In addition to performing manufacturing and assembly activities, the Shift Lead is responsible for managing the Assembly Technicians and supporting the Shop Manager with day-to-day tasks in a safe and efficient manner.


Great communication skills, attitude and broad shop skills contribute to the success of this role as a bridge from day-to-day assembly operations to management.


This role will interact with all departments and may work with different departments concurrently during assembly operations, such as Production, Product Testing, Quality and or Health and Safety.


Education and experience qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years in assembly/manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 2 years leadership experience within a supervisory role in a Production or Manufacturing facility
  • Formal training in trades will be considered an asset
  • Certified in forklift operations

Primary responsibilities:


  • Assembly: _
  • Manage Assembly Technicians during their shift to maintain schedules and priorities
  • Compile assembly information for workbook, prepare parts with Orings and grease and conduct assembly of downhole oil and gas tools with use of hand tools and assembly equipment
  • Conduct daily and preuse inspections as per preventative maintenance schedules
  • Assist in scheduled maintenance of shop tools, equipment, assembly line and forklift
  • Complete all documentation associated with QA/QC preassembly, preparation, and assembly
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment
  • Load and unload trucks as required. (Valid Counterbalanced Forklift Certification required)
  • Pick up and deliver equipment to vendors as required (valid Class 5 Drivers License required)
  • Assist in scheduled maintenance of shop tools, equipment, assembly line and forklift
  • Product Testing_
  • Ability to conduct product testing with mínimal supervision following directions from the engineering team
  • Successfully compiles all related information from any testing conducted to provide to the engineering team for reporting
  • Health and Safety_
  • Actively participate in safety programs, initiatives, and projects
  • Conduct inspections as per Inspections program as well as hazard identification and incident reporting
  • Understand and comply with company safety policies, standards, programs, and procedures
  • Participate and assist in COR audits (internal and external)
  • Participate in toolbox talks and GEMBA walks
  • Training_
  • Ensure all training and certificates are up to date as per Stage Completions training requirements
  • Provide training and mentoring to Assembly Technicians and new hires
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned, within the scope of this role_
