Position Overview:


The Shop Labourer is responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair operations of the equipment and assisting with general shop duties.

This role involves coordinating parts and supplies, assisting technicians, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the smooth operation of the

shop.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate the acquisition and delivery of parts, tools, and supplies needed to maintain and repair equipment.
  • Assist technicians by retrieving and organizing tools, equipment, and materials necessary for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks on equipment, such as fluid checks, greasing, and cleaning.
  • Maintain inventory levels of parts, fluids, and supplies, ensuring adequate stock and coordinating with vendors for timely replenishment.
  • Support the organization and cleanliness of the shop and storage areas.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory transactions.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to prioritize and schedule repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, place orders, and track deliveries.
  • Operate company vehicles for picking up parts, supplies, or equipment as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with general shop duties, such as organizing tools, cleaning work areas, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to provide status updates, relay information, and report any issues.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a shop runner or similar role, preferably in a mechanical or equipment maintenance environment.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment, parts, and tools is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain inventory and track supplies.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
  • Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and suppliers.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for performing routine equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities.
