Position Description:

We are currently recruiting for a Psychometrist who, under the direction and supervision of a registered psychologist, will carry out the administration, scoring, and data management of all psychometric testing and clinical assessments of children and adolescents (ages Specifically, the role requires the Psychometrist's time be shared between two busy clinics, with 0.5 FTE dedicated to patients seen through Neurology and the other 0.5 FTE dedicated to patients in Haematology/Oncology. The Psychometrist may become involved with on-going research projects, including managing the clinical database, and other duties as required.


Here's What You'll Get to Do

  • Scheduling, tracking, administering and scoring developmental, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments for patients and families
  • Observes and reports on relevant patient behaviour during test sessions and adapts interactions as necessary to work successfully with patient
  • Scoring and summarizes psychological test data based on accurate and efficient scoring procedures as delineated in test manuals
  • Manages clinical services by maintaining accurate wait lists, contacting families to make clinical appointments, gathering initial referral data and history
  • Manages psychological and clinical databases ensuring complete and accurate records are kept for future reference, program evaluation and quality assurance.
  • Supports departmental education and contributes to departmental function by serving on committees, mentoring new employees, attending departmental meetings
  • Works with practicum, postdoctoral, and resident students to provide training on test administration
  • Participating in ongoing and emerging clinical projects as required
  • Ensuring that hospital administrative policy and privacy requirements are adhered to

Here's What You'll Need

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Psychology Previous psychological testing and assessment experience with children/adolescents with cognitive, developmental and/or behavioral disorders is essential
  • Superior critical thinking, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communications
  • Exercises sound judgement and diplomacy
  • Highly attentive to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, work independently and collaboratively with members of a large interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Excellent interpersonal and decision making skills
  • Solid experience with database and statistical analysis software (e.g. SPSS, Excel, REDCap)
  • Social sensitivity, diplomacy and relationshipbuilding / management
  • Knowledge of child & adolescent psychosocial development and psychopathology; ability to manage challenging behavior and motivate children and adolescents.
  • Ability to multitask, be flexible and adaptable to changing program demands

Employment Type
Full-time (1.0 FTE) Permanent, with full benefits. Position will start in June 2023.
