Summary of Duties:


Reporting to the Principal/ Designate, the Early Childhood Educator, leads the before and after school care program for kindergarten and primary aged students; and works alongside of the classroom teacher during the school day.

This position also works collaboratively with the primary teachers to facilitate the seamless day for kindergarten and primary-aged students.

The ECE collaborates with the classroom teacher in the design of programs and environments which will enhance children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

Grade 12 Graduation

Post-Secondary Education as an Early Childhood Educator (two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma)

Minimum of two years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator, in addition to experience acquired in obtaining Certificate-to-Practice

Experience must include working in a licensed early years program and may include before/after school care program.

Have and maintain BC Early Childhood Educator Certificate to Practice through the ECE Registry

Registration with Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia (ECEBC)

Experience creating, organizing, planning and implementing for an early learning program

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team including district and school staff, parents and children.

Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Ability to work with mínimal supervision

Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills

Some knowledge of standard office equipment including computers for instructional use

Ability to physically be able to perform all aspects of the position

OR an equivalent combination of training and experience


Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Membership with ECEBC

Diploma/Degree in ECE

Able to work with Pedagogical Narration as described in the British Columbia Early Learning Framework
