    Description

    Position Summary

    The successful candidate will join the Human Resources Service Centre team responsible for the full-cycle processing of biweekly and monthly payroll for approximately 11,000 employees.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • processing payroll information for biweekly and monthly payroll including staff salary payments, benefits, pension deductions and time and absence reporting
  • coordinating the accumulation of benefits and payroll deductions in accordance with current legislation, plan documents, board policies, regulations and collective agreement requirements
  • verifying payroll changes In PeopleSoft and ensuring accuracy
  • calculating and entering payments for employees in receipt of WCB, maternity supplement payments and vacation payouts
  • reviewing and auditing vacation and sick plan eligibility and accruals
  • preparing supplementary payments according to Canadian Revenue Agency guidelines
  • Education/Qualifications

  • a certificate in a related field
  • Canadian Payroll Association designation
  • a minimum of two years of payroll experience in union and non-unionized environments
  • Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft and Payroll for North America
  • knowledge of Canadian Revenue Agency and Employment Insurance regulations, Labour Standards, WCB and FOIP
  • Rate of Pay

    Nature of Work

    Based on the nature of the role, and through conversation with their supervisor, the successful candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Hybrid work schedules provide eligible staff with the opportunity to work a combination of both onsite and offsite. Staff participating in a hybrid work schedule must be available to work in-person on short notice to meet operation needs.
